Practice
Do it now
A few minutes without the video: spot the mistake, apply the fix, pass the challenge.
- Mistake
- You play the pattern evenly, with no accents — no wave, no groove.
- Fix
- Make the second kick in “Boom-Boom” louder and add a micro-pause before Pff.
- Challenge
- Repeat the pattern Boom — tick — Pff — tick — Boom-Boom — Pff — tick: slowly first, then faster. Record it and listen back.
Steps
- Play the pattern from the challenge slowly, 5 times.
- 5 more times: make the second kick in “Boom-Boom” louder.
- 5 more times: hold back for a split second before Pff.
- Put it all together and play it 10 times, no rushing.
- Sounds clean? Nudge the tempo a little faster.
Metronome
70BPM
