Practice
Do it now
A few minutes without the video: spot the mistake, apply the fix, pass the challenge.
- Mistake
- Your sound fades in slowly with no attack, so the beat sounds flat, like a pillow.
- Fix
- Compress air like a spring and release it sharply: hit first, keep it short.
- Challenge
- Make the shortest kick you can: instant ON, instant OFF. A hit, then silence — a gunshot, not a siren.
Steps
- Attack only: a click with nothing after it, 10 times.
- Hold the pressure for 3 seconds, then release sharply, 10 times.
- Shortest possible kick, snare and hi-hat — 10 each.
- Play B-t-Pf-t for 30 seconds with maximum punch.
