Practice
Do it now
Spot the mistake, use the formula and do today’s task — it takes less than the lesson.
- Mistake
- You name your price first, and too low: they agree in 30 seconds.
- Fix
- Price = base × experience × uniqueness × urgency. Never say it first.
- Challenge
- Calculate your gig price with the formula and prepare a question so the organizer names the budget first.
Steps
- Base: your hourly rate × 5–8 hours of work per gig.
- Experience: 1–2 yrs ×1, 3–5 yrs ×1.5–2, 5+ yrs ×2–3.
- Uniqueness ×1.5–2; urgency: 3 days out +30%, next day +50–100%.
- Quote 20–30% above your minimum to leave room for a discount.
- Write down the question: “What's your budget for the artist?”
